Bespoke & Remodelling Terms
These Terms & Conditions apply to all bespoke commission and remodelling from Anny Hsieh Jewellery.
By placing a deposit, the clients agree to the terms outlined below.
1. About us
This business is owned and operated by Anny Hsieh Jewellery, an independent jewellery business based in Bristol, United Kingdom.All jewellery is designed and handcrafted by Anny Hsieh.
2. Design & Consultation
Design Approval: For CAD-based projects, renders will be provided for Client approval. Minor design changes can be made once. Any major or additional changes will result in additional cost and will be quoted before work proceeds. Once the design is approved and moves to the casting/manufacturing stage, any further changes will incur additional labour and material costs.
Handcrafted Nature: As each piece is handcrafted, minor variations from sketches may occur, which are characteristic of artisanal jewellery.
3. Quotes & Payment
Validity: Quotes are based on current precious metal market prices and are valid for 14 days.
Payment Schedule: A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to begin work (including stone sourcing and CAD design). The remaining 50% balance must be paid in full upon completion and prior to the collection or shipping of the piece.
Non-Refundability: Bespoke and remodelled items are unique to the Client and are therefore non-refundable and non-exchangeable.
By paying your deposit you are agreeing to our terms and conditions and the details of your order including stone specs and rings sizes etc.
4. Remodelling & Use of Client Materials
Metal Testing: All Client-provided metal is tested for purity. Anny Hsieh Jewellery reserves the right to decline the use of metal that is unhallmarked or unsuitable for casting.
Refining & Porosity: When melting down old gold, there is a risk of porosity or brittle metal due to original solder or alloys. Anny Hsieh Jewellery will use professional expertise to minimize this (often by adding fresh alloy). During the process os smelting and filing, you’ll loose 5-10% of the metal.
Leftover Metal: All metal provided will be weighted and tested before work begins. Any scrap metal remaining and unused gemstones after the remodel will be returned to the Client.
5. Gemstones & Diamonds
Client Stones: While every precaution is taken, the removal and resetting of stones from old mounts carry an inherent risk of breakage if the stone has hidden inclusions or pre-existing stress fractures. Anny Hsieh Jewellery is not liable for damage to Client stones during the extraction or resetting process.
Sourcing: If Anny Hsieh Jewellery sources stones for a client, they are called in specifically for that project. Once a stone is selected and paid for, it cannot be returned.
Anny Hsieh Jewellery only uses reputable diamond suppliers that purchase their diamonds from legitimate sources not involved in funding conflict diamonds, in compliance with United Nations resolution known as "The Kimberley Process". The supplier guarantees that their diamonds are conflict-free, based on personal knowledge and/or written guarantees.
6. Sizing & Fit
Accuracy: Anny Hsieh Jewellery will measure and advice on ring size during the consultation based on the width and the shape of the band. For projects that is gifted or engagement ring, we'll be making it in UK average size "M" for ease of resizing in the future.
Resizing: One complimentary resize for Engagement Rings or other gifted rings are included within 30 days of collection (limited to +/- 3 sizes), provided the design allows for it. Complex designs or significant size changes after the piece is finished may incur a fee.
7. Timelines
Lead Times: Commission usually take 8-12 weeks to complete from the point of paid deposit. Shooter lead time may be achieved but cannot be guaranteed. While every effort is made to meet deadlines, Anny Hsieh Jewellery is not responsible for delays caused by postal strikes or unforeseen events.
8. Hallmarking
Legal Requirement: All precious metal pieces over the legal weight threshold will be hallmarked at the UK Assay Office. This process is included in the quote unless otherwise stated. Remodelling projects with mix carat that ended up in-between standard UK carat mark will be hallmarked at the lower carat at 9ct, 14ct or 18ct.
Anny Hsieh Jewellery uses Edinburgh Assay Office for hallmarking.
9. Photography
Portfolio Use: Anny Hsieh Jewellery reserves the right to photograph and display images of bespoke pieces for promotional and portfolio purposes.
10. GDPR
We intend to keep your details so that we can provide you with a quote, a receipt, follow up email and to hold information of your order for future reference. Your details are kept securely. We will never pass your details on to a third party. A copy of our privacy policy is available on our website.
11. Warranty
For a full warranty policy, please follow the link here. Engagement rings are guaranteed for 3 years from manufacturers’ faults, providing you attend your check-ups. This will be 6 months after the final payment has been made and then every year after that. Please contact Anny if you have any concerns or to book an checkup services appointment here.

12. Valuations and Insurance
Anny Hsieh jewellery supplies a printed & digital receipt with specifications on pieces made by ourselves at time of purchase. Please be aware that I am not a registered valuer so please check with your insurance if the information we provide will be adequate for valuation.
For re-modelled jewellery where we haven’t supplied the materials, we would advise using our suggested registered independent valuer Izzie Balmer– please ask for details or book an appointment.
